Vanessa Williams' favorite veggie restaurants

No, not that Vanessa Williams. This working actress is more known for her work on television, most notably "Soul Food." But in real life, the "New Jack City" thespian prefers vegan fare. A few of her favorite spots around the city are listed below.

The Brooklyn-born actress also performs in a live stage collaboration with Juliette Jeffers this coming weekend (June 6 and 7) entitled "Hot and Ready" at the Elephant Theater in Hollywood. Williams' piece is a one-woman show entitled "Feet on the Ceiling."

1. Vegan Express   Westwood / West L.A.

I find myself eating lots of Thai-style vegan food lately. They have great curry here, and everything is full of flavor. Vegan Express has great wraps with soy meat and even a soy fish dish that’s wrapped in seaweed. It’s a meal here, for sure, and my kids even love it.

2. Madeline Bistro   Tarzana

This is like a five-star, fine-dining type of experience. Here you can find some wonderful variations on what you would find at a “normal” five star restaurant. They have lasagna, interesting philo-pastries and more. It’s just a wonderful menu. There’s always great specials here and great vegan wines. A whole fine dining experience.

3. Wokcano   Fairfax District

Even though not everything here is vegan, I love it because they are open late! The miso soup is fantastic. The vegetarian sushi rolls are great...and the ginger carrot sauce for their salads is brilliant
