Katy Perry's best of L.A.

Capitol recording artist Katy Perry may have grown up in Santa Barbara, but she now lives in Los Angeles.  Here is where you might see Perry between gigs...the "I Kissed a Girl" singer is apparently fond of Hollywood, Silver Lake and environs, with a few surprises thrown in west of La Brea Avenue, just for good measure.

1. Hotel Cafe   Hollywood

I love this bar, because it is where I started and it's where you can expect the unexpected. There are lots of different acts...it is like the new Largo. Some people just jump up on stage and start singing here and you can always find new music at Hotel Cafe. They also have a great bar where all your local friends are at.

2. Alcove Cafe and Bakery   Los Feliz

I love Alcove. It is back in Loz Feliz, and I live in Silver Lake. Alcove is on Hillhurst and really cute. In that back area there's an amazing wine and cheese store...it is kind of like having your own Dean & Deluca, but better. They have a roast beef sandwich with horseradish sauce that I think is really good.

3. La Poubelle   Hollywood

I usually have dinner at La Poubelle. It is the kind of place that you can go with one friend, and everybody ends up meeting, or you see someone there that you haven't seen in months that you totally want to see.

4. The Little Door   Fairfax District

For a romantic dinner, I love Little Door. And Luques, which very chic, too, but the Little Door is the most romantic.

5. Dusty's   Silver Lake / Echo Park

I like the huevos rancheros here. Good hangover food on a Saturday.

6. Magnolia   Hollywood

This is one of my favorite places in town. The Magnolia salad is usually what I get because I am obsessed with it.

7. Arclight Hollywood   Hollywood

I know everyone says they love the Arclight, but I grew up in the Santa Barbara area, going to regular theaters, and then all of a sudden you get this experience, it's amazing! I love those 21-and- over nights where you can have a beer with your movie. I like that they have caramel popcorn, too.

8. Bar Marmont   West Hollywood

Any night that you want to have a drink and not have it be too scene-y (but still classy, and not bridge-and-tunnel), Bar Marmont works. It is on Sunset, but it doesn't get all the riff-raff. The Bar on Bronson and Sunset is always fun, too.
