4. Marina del Rey Holiday Boat Parade   Marina del Rey

A favorite Christmastime event since 1963, the annual Marina del Rey Boat Parade kicks off with a fireworks display, launched from the jetty near the entrance to the main channel. A two-hour parade follows in which festively bedecked boats circle the channel for an admiring audience of spectators. Each boat does three laps to show off the decorations, music, dancing, and other performances on board. (6 - 8 p.m., Dec. 13)

Come one, come all to the 62nd annual Naples Holiday Boat Parade in Long Beach. This year's theme, appropriately enough, is "The Naples Spirit -- Joy of Giving." Festivities include a little boat parade and a big boat parade. The small boats start things off, travelling counter-clockwise around the islands and then entering the interior of the bay followed by the large boats. Both fleets travel the main body of Alamitos Bay in a clockwise circle before returning to the Long Beach Yacht Club. (8 p.m., Dec. 13)
